Technology Transfer & Commercialization Course Launched at IIMCB

The 1st Edition of the Technology Transfer & Commercialization Course took place at the IIMCB on October 20–22, 2025, bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovation experts to explore the path from scientific discovery to successful commercialization.

The three-day course featured experts from IIMCB and VIB (Flanders Institute for Biotechnology, Belgium), as well as invited guest speakers from industry, who guided participants through the key stages of transforming research into market-ready innovations.

  • Jan Demolder (VIB) — Patentability in Biotech: Hands-on Training and Lessons Learned from IP at VIB.

  • Ethan Kuo (VIB) — Funding Startups: Perspectives from a Former Venture Capitalist, Key Ingredients for Success: Team Building, Business Models, and Scalability, Valuation & Financing: Methods to Assess Startup Value and Secure Funding, and Market Potential Analysis.
  • Kornelia Mikuła (IIMCB) — Preparing Research for Industry Collaboration and co-led: Get a Taste in Negotiations – Hands-on Exercise.
  • Erwin Sablon (VIB) — Diagnostic Development Journey and Get a Taste in Negotiations (co-led)

The event combined lectures, interactive exercises, and networking opportunities, offering participants practical insights into technology transfer, intellectual property management, and startup development.
