On June 12 2026, during an internal IIMCB seminar, another presentation in the “My Edinburgh Story” series took place. This time, PhD student Mouad Fakhri from the Laboratory of RNA-Protein Interactions at the Dioscuri Centre spoke about his research visit to Edinburgh. Mouad’s presentation was titled “Small molecules targeting HuR suppress alpha-Syn levels in human neuronal cells.”

Mouad undertook a 15-day research visit to the laboratory of Prof. Tilo Kunath at the Institute for Regeneration and Repair (IRR) in Edinburgh. The visit was an essential part of the ongoing collaboration between Dr. Gracjan Michlewski’s group at IIMCB and Prof. Kunath’s laboratory, aimed at advancing our understanding of α-synuclein biology in the context of Parkinson’s disease.
