Celebrating Women in Science: Meet IIMCB Researchers Leading Innovation

On February 11, we joined the global celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, recognizing the vital role of female researchers in advancing molecular and cell biology.”

At IIMCB, women make up half of our research staff, leading scientific groups, core facilities, and innovation projects. As part of this year’s celebration, we proudly highlight the work of:
– Olga Gewartowska, currently the head of the Technology Development Unit, devoted to the management of the IIMCB’s Core Facilities, the IN-MOL-CELL research infrastructure. In this role, Olga closely collaborates with the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology (VIB), IIMCB’s advanced partner in the RACE project;
– Agnieszka Czarnocka-Cieciura, bioinformatician at the Laboratory of RNA Biology – ERA Chairs Group, studying mRNA stability using nanopore sequencing;
– Małgorzata Figiel, structural biologist exploring viral replication mechanisms.
