Fantastic how our Teaming of Excellence RACE project unites people! On 14.07.2025, the IIMCB had the honor of hosting a distinguished delegation from the Embassy of Belgium to Poland and Lithuania and Flanders representation in Poland. The delegation included: Mr. Matthias De Moor, Diplomatic Representative of Flanders to Poland and the Baltic States, Mr. Kris Put, Trade and Economic Representative of Flanders in Poland and Mr. Tijs Verstraete, Policy Officer. Given that VIB Belgium is a key partner in the RACE consortium, it was a privilege to welcome the Belgian diplomatic and economic representatives to IIMCB. The visit proves that the RACE project not only fosters collaboration within its consortium but also generates opportunities to build wider networks and partnerships beyond it, including with diplomatic and trade missions.
During the visit, Prof. Marta Miączyńska, Director of IIMCB, presented the history of the institute, its scientific achievements to date, and its ambitious vision for future development — a vision that is deeply embedded in and supported by the RACE project. Our guests were then given a guided tour of the institute, during which they saw some of IIMCB’s most recent infrastructure investments, including state-of-the-art equipment purchased to advance cutting-edge biomedical research. We extend our sincere thanks to the Belgian delegation for their interest in IIMCB and look forward to continued engagement and strengthening of ties between the Polish and Flemish scientific and innovation communities.
This visit was of particular significance in the context of IIMCB’s implementation of the Teaming for Excellence RACE project, funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe. The RACE project is a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening excellence in research and innovation at IIMCB, implemented together with two outstanding advanced partners: the Flanders Institute of Biotechnology (VIB, Belgium) and the University of Edinburgh (UK).
